How to stop Palworld server memory leak crashes without losing progress

Palworld's dedicated server eats memory until it lags or crashes. RCON Hub restarts it in time, always saves first through the REST API and warns players.

· Palworld server manager

Your Palworld server slowly eats memory until it lags or crashes, and anything since the last save goes with it. The game has no memory limit or restart of its own, and closing the server's console doesn't save. RCON Hub fixes it: its Palworld Manager watches memory, restarts the server before it runs out, and always saves through the REST API first, with a countdown players see in game.

Why Palworld servers crash and lose progress

The Palworld dedicated server uses more memory the longer it runs. It's a known problem with the game, not your PC. The community reports it growing to many GB over a few days. A restart frees it all again.

But stopping it the wrong way costs you progress. Closing the server's console with Ctrl+Break ends it without saving. We checked: the world file didn't change.

So the manual fix looks like this:

  • Keep Task Manager open and watch the memory climb.
  • Save over RCON, warn players in chat, then stop the server.
  • Set up a Windows scheduled task and hope nobody's mid-fight.
  • Edit PalWorldSettings.ini by hand to turn off raids.

Miss one night and the server falls over on its own.

What the game and other tools leave out

  • Nothing watches memory. The game doesn't restart itself as the leak grows. Palworld Manager shows memory use live and starts a restart countdown when it stays over your limit for a few checks.
  • The quick stop loses progress. Ctrl+Break, or a script that just ends the process, quits without saving. Palworld Manager saves through the REST API on every stop and restart.
  • The REST API ships turned off. It's off in the default settings, and the server's RCON is deprecated. Palworld Manager turns REST on, with an admin password, before every start.
  • No warning for players. A scheduled task restarts mid-fight unless you announce it yourself. Palworld Manager shows the countdown in game, and you can push it back, restart now or cancel.
  • Raids hide in a one-line ini. PalWorldSettings.ini packs 122 settings into one line. Palworld Manager turns off raids in one click, the community's best-known way to slow the leak down.

How RCON Hub fixes it

On top of that, Palworld Manager:

  • adds daily restarts at set times, and can back up the world before each one;
  • can install server updates when nobody's on;
  • keeps the server running when you close the tool.

Step-by-step setup

  1. Install RCON Hub. Download it from rconhub.gg and run the installer. It's free for Windows 10 and 11.
  2. Add the Palworld game pack. Open RCON Hub. On Your games, click Add game, pick Palworld and click Install.
  3. Set up your server. Open the Palworld card. On the Server page, click Install it for me to download the free dedicated server with SteamCMD. If it finds a server already on this PC, click Use this one instead.
  4. Start it. Click Start server.
  5. Set a memory limit. In the Memory card, tick Restart when memory gets too high. Set the Limit in GB and click Save. Pick a bit less than your PC's free memory: 12 GB suits a 16 GB PC.
  6. Turn off raids. If raids are on, the same card shows Turn off raids (helps the memory leak). Click it. It applies from the next restart.
  7. Add daily restarts. In Automatic restarts and updates, pick a time under Restart every day at and click Add. Tick Back up the world before each restart. Tick Install Palworld server updates if you want those too.
  8. Handle a countdown. When a restart is coming, use +10 min to push it back, Now to restart at once, or Cancel. Players see the countdown in game.

Need to shut down by hand? Click Stop. The world is saved first.

Is it safe?

Yes.

  • It runs locally. RCON Hub and Palworld Manager run on your own Windows PC and talk to the server through its own REST API.
  • No injection. RCON Hub never touches the game client or your players' games. There's nothing for anti-cheat to flag, so it won't get anyone banned.
  • Your secrets stay put. Rented-server tokens, admin passwords and file logins are stored encrypted on your PC and never shown again.

It's beta software. Back up your world and settings before you change things.

Restart before it crashes

A leak you can't fix is one you can schedule around. Download RCON Hub, add the Palworld pack, and let your server restart on your terms, with every bit of progress saved.
